Malaysian tycoon Ong Beng Seng keeps Singapore PR status after conviction, due to terminal illness and judicial mercy.
Malaysian property tycoon Ong Beng Seng, a Singapore permanent resident, will keep his PR status after being convicted of aiding former transport minister S. Iswaran in obstructing justice, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority confirmed on November 10, 2025.
Ong, who pleaded guilty to arranging a $5,700 business-class flight for Iswaran and abetting him in obtaining gifts, was fined $30,000 and granted judicial mercy due to terminal multiple myeloma.
The ICA issued him a formal warning, stating future misconduct could lead to revocation.
The decision follows Singapore’s policy of reviewing PR status for criminal convictions, considering factors like the offense, personal circumstances, and contributions to the country.
El magnate malasio Ong Beng Seng mantiene el estatus de relaciones públicas de Singapur después de su condena, debido a una enfermedad terminal y a la misericordia judicial.
