A 26-year-old Hungarian man was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for attempting to smuggle 9 kilograms of methamphetamine into Australia, hidden in blueberry powder packaging at Melbourne Airport in December 2024.
He admitted to carrying the drugs, believing they were watches, and was paid about $14,200.
The seized drugs, worth an estimated $8.3 million, could have fueled up to 90,000 street sales.
