Ghana approves 9% public sector pay rise and minimum wage hike effective Jan. 1, 2026.
Ghana’s government has approved a 9% salary increase for public sector workers and the national daily minimum wage, effective January 1, 2026, raising it from GH₵19.97 to GH₵21.77.
The decision, made on November 9, 2025, by the National Tripartite Committee, follows negotiations between government, employers, and labour representatives.
The move aims to support economic recovery amid declining inflation and interest rates.
The government pledged full implementation, with the new wage to be tax-exempt to protect workers’ gains.
