Elders considers selling its NSW Killara Feedlot amid rising investor interest in the sector.
Elders is exploring the sale of its 22,500-head Killara Feedlot in New South Wales due to growing investor interest in the feedlot sector, following recent high-profile deals like Rangers Valley and Mort & Co’s Queensland sites.
The 54-year-old facility, a key revenue source since 2011 and vital during market downturns, has seen upgrades and expanded capacity, including a grass-fed herd on effluent-fertilized pastures.
The company, which recently acquired Delta Agribusiness for $475 million, says a sale would allow a more growth-focused owner to maximize the asset’s potential, with Melbourne-based Kidder Williams advising on options.
Despite the feedlot’s strategic importance in stabilizing Elders’ finances during past crises, including post-GFC struggles, the company insists any sale aligns with its broader value creation strategy.
A rushed tour by industry leaders last week added to speculation, though no official announcement has been made.
