Cumbria’s Winter Warmth Appeal 2025 raises funds to help elderly residents afford heat and food, with donations matched up to £20,000.
The Cumbria Community Foundation has launched its 2025 Winter Warmth Appeal to help vulnerable older residents afford heating and food as winter begins.
With around 500 elderly people in the region dying annually due to cold-related hardships, the foundation is raising funds through a pound-for-pound donation match, up to £20,000, supported by SP Electricity North West and other partners.
Donations made before December 19 will have double the impact.
Since 2010, the campaign has raised £3 million, with last year’s effort supporting 1,570 people through partners like Age UK and Copeland Age & Advice Service.
Individuals can donate online or by phone to help prevent seniors from choosing between warmth and sustenance.
