Bhole Baba Dairy sold fake ghee made from oils to Tirumala Temple for five years, evading blacklisting through shell firms.
A CBI investigation found that Bhole Baba Organic Dairy in Uttarakhand supplied 68 lakh kg of synthetic ghee—worth ₹250 crore—to the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple between 2019 and 2024 without using any milk.
The dairy, run by Pomil and Vipin Jain, substituted palm and kernel oils with chemicals to mimic ghee.
Despite being blacklisted in 2022, it operated through shell companies, rerouting rejected consignments.
The scandal, uncovered after Delhi trader Ajay Kumar Sugandh’s arrest, exposed multi-state supply chain abuses and raised serious food safety concerns.
