Australia’s first large solar project with a long-term power deal, Stubbo Solar, now fully operational, powers 185,000 homes and features full panel recycling.
ACEN Australia’s Stubbo Solar, a 520 MWdc solar project in central-west New South Wales, has achieved full commercial operation, becoming the first in the state backed by a Long-Term Energy Service Agreement.
The AUS $760 million project, completed ahead of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone’s formal launch, can power about 185,000 homes and includes provisions for a 200 MW / 800 MWh battery storage system.
It is the first large-scale solar facility certified for full circularity, ensuring all panels will be reused or recycled.
The project injected nearly AUS $85 million into the regional economy during construction, with significant spending on local and First Nations businesses and community initiatives.
It was developed with PCL Construction as EPC contractor and Lumea for grid connection.
