VHP challenges J&K medical institute's admissions and hiring, alleging Hindu underrepresentation and demanding Hindu-only staff and minority status.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has challenged the admission and hiring practices at the Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that only six of the first 50 students admitted were Hindu, with most nursing faculty members being Muslim or Christian.
In a November 1 letter to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, VHP general secretary Bajrang Bagra urged a review of policies, calling for exclusively Hindu staff and the institute to be granted minority status to allow Hindu reservations.
The Rashtriya Bajang Dal has also protested, demanding similar changes.
The claims, including enrollment and faculty composition, have not been independently verified.
