An Indian inmate jailed for a $450 million fraud sent a death threat to a judge using a constable’s phone, sparking security concerns.
Anubhav Mittal, a man imprisoned for a ₹3,700 crore cyber fraud scheme, has been charged with sending a threatening email to an Allahabad High Court judge using a police constable’s phone.
Authorities say he used the device during a court hearing on November 4 to send a fake message threatening a judge’s life, allegedly to frame another inmate.
The Cyber Cell traced the message to the constable’s phone, which Mittal accessed after being allowed to use it.
Mittal, who faces 324 cases related to the scam, and the constable are charged under the IPC and IT Act.
Mittal’s wife and father are also co-accused and in custody.
The incident has raised concerns about jail security and misuse of official devices.
