Indian doctor detained in Russia since Sept. 2025 faces travel restrictions despite release; family seeks urgent government help for his return.
Dr. K. Jagadeeswaran, a Tamil Nadu doctor, was detained in Sochi, Russia, in September 2025 after arriving on a tourist visa with a friend.
His wife says he was interrogated, allegedly tortured, and his health severely declined, reportedly due to his Russian language skills.
While his friend was released after a week, Dr. Jagadeeswaran remained detained, with authorities citing lack of cooperation—denied by his wife.
After legal intervention, he was released and given back his passport, but not the documents needed to travel within Russia or return to India.
He is now under the care of a Russian lawyer and cannot reach the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
The family has sought help from Indian and Tamil Nadu authorities without success and is urging urgent government intervention for his safe return.
