flag India suspends Tarn Taran SP over election interference ahead of Nov. 11 bypoll.

The Election Commission of India has suspended Tarn Taran Superintendent of Police Ravjot Kaur Grewal three days before the November 11 assembly bypoll, following allegations of interference in the election process. The move, prompted by a complaint from Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, cited concerns over partisan conduct, including false cases and illegal detentions targeting Akali leaders. Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar has been appointed as interim SSP. The EC also asked the Punjab government to submit a panel of three officers for future assignments. The bypoll, triggered by the June 2025 death of AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal, is set for November 11, with results on November 14.
