Doctors in Delhi revived a dead woman’s organs using new tech, enabling life-saving transplants.
Doctors at HCMCT Manipal Hospital in Delhi performed a first-in-Asia procedure on November 6, 2025, using ECMO and Normothermic Regional Perfusion to restore blood circulation in a deceased 55-year-old woman, enabling organ donation after circulatory death.
Despite her heart stopping and a flat ECG, her liver, kidneys, corneas, and skin were preserved for transplantation.
The organs were successfully transplanted into four recipients, marking a breakthrough in expanding organ donation beyond brain death.
