Wendy's is closing 200 to 350 underperforming U.S. locations, about a mid single-digit percentage of its 6,000 restaurants, as part of a turnaround strategy led by interim CEO Ken Cook. The closures, starting in 2025 and continuing through 2026, aim to improve sales and profitability by allowing franchisees to reinvest in stronger locations. This follows last year’s closure of 140 stores. The chain reported a 4.7% decline in U.S. same-store sales, while competitors saw gains.
