Over 100 vandalism incidents at Ireland’s historic sites in two years caused millions in damage.
Over 100 incidents of vandalism at Ireland’s national historic properties were recorded by the Office for Public Works over the past two years, including vehicle ramming, arson, oil poured on ancient stones, theft of historical panels, and destruction of infrastructure.
Sites such as Castletown House, Donaghcumper House, Phoenix Park, St Stephen’s Green, and the Loughcrew Cairns were affected, with a single May spree at Castletown House causing over €500,000 in damage.
The OPW confirmed the incidents but declined to comment.
