Oregon’s coast-wide mussel harvest has reopened due to safe toxin levels, with limited clam and crab access and ongoing testing.
Mussel harvesting has reopened along Oregon’s entire coast, from the Washington to California borders, after toxin tests showed safe levels, according to state agencies. Recreational bay clam and crab harvests are also allowed in designated areas, while razor clams remain open only north of Cape Blanco and ocean crabbing is closed from October 16 to November 30. ODA and ODFW continue monthly toxin testing, requiring two safe results before reopening any area. Residents are urged to check the ODA’s website or call the Shellfish Safety Hotline before harvesting.
