Senate officials said the nomination was paused due to public and private complaints, not corruption, and emphasized their commitment to transparent processes.
They announced plans to pursue legal action against Alwan Hassan, who made the allegations, demanding he provide evidence.
The Senate also stated it had no prior ties to Ramat, whose nomination was made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2025.
Meanwhile, Senate Deputy President Barau Jibrin has filed a lawsuit over the accusations, which are now under judicial review.
