NCP warns Pune spokesperson over criticism of women's commission chair, demanding response in seven days.
The Nationalist Congress Party has issued a show-cause notice to Pune spokesperson Rupali Patil Thombre over critical remarks she made about Rupali Chakankar, chairperson of Maharashtra’s State Women’s Commission and NCP women’s wing president.
The notice, signed by party official Sanjay Khodke, alleges Thombre violated party discipline and gives her seven days to respond, warning of disciplinary action if she fails.
The move follows Thombre’s protest in Pune over the suicide of a woman doctor from Satara, where she accused the Women’s Commission of inaction and called for Chakankar’s resignation.
Thombre criticized the short response time on social media and pledged a detailed explanation covering the doctor’s case, allegations of character assassination, and other related issues.
The incident reflects internal party tensions amid heightened scrutiny of women’s rights and accountability.
