Multnomah County shelter is over capacity, urging public to adopt, foster, or help reunite lost pets.
Multnomah County Animal Shelter in Troutdale, Oregon, is over capacity, housing more than 103 dogs in a facility built for 92 kennels, with 128 dogs and puppies in care. Since November 1, 86 dogs and puppies have been taken in, including 60 strays, overwhelming the shelter’s ability to place animals. Officials are urging the public to adopt or foster temporarily, with adoptions open this weekend and all available pets viewable at multcopets.org. Owner surrenders are paused except in emergencies, and the community is asked to help reunite lost pets by reporting found animals online or through social media.
