Maine will issue full November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to approximately 170,000 residents, following a federal court order requiring the USDA to release funding despite the Trump administration’s appeal.
The benefits, averaging $572 per family of four, will be distributed between November 10 and 14, as usual, with applications and renewals continuing during the shutdown.
The decision follows a Rhode Island court ruling that the federal government cannot withhold full SNAP payments during the government shutdown, a move upheld by a federal appeals court.
