The Ismaili Center in Houston, the first Ismaili civic and cultural complex in the U.S., has officially opened.
Designed by Farshid Moussavi Architecture, the five-story, 150,000-square-foot building features Islamic and Persian architectural elements, including a central atrium with an oculus, stone screens, and shaded terraces.
Located on an 11-acre site overlooking Buffalo Bayou Park, it includes gardens, courtyards, and flood-adaptive landscaping by Thomas Woltz.
The center serves as a hub for worship, education, community events, and interfaith dialogue, emphasizing sustainability, craftsmanship, and cultural symbolism.
