Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Gateway of Guwahati Terminal and the Brahmaputra Riverfront – Sati Radhika Shaanti Udyan on November 7, 2025, marking major advances in Assam’s riverine transport and urban development. The projects, funded through central interest-free loans, aim to boost sustainable, multimodal connectivity, tourism, and economic growth while preserving cultural heritage and local livelihoods, including the Uzan Bazar fish market.
