ICE arrested a former DACA recipient with felony crimes after a violent chase and standoff in Chicago.

ICE agents in Chicago arrested 31-year-old Mexican national Alan Eduardo Garcia, a former DACA recipient, after a violent confrontation involving multiple evasion attempts and assaults on officers. Garcia, with a history of felony convictions including strangulation, domestic battery, and firearm use, fled during a traffic stop in October, rammed a government vehicle, and later crashed into ICE vehicles before barricading himself in his apartment. During the standoff, he attacked officers and tried to jump from a balcony, leading to injuries for two agents. ICE stated the arrest was part of enforcement efforts targeting non-citizens with serious criminal records. Garcia remains in custody as immigration proceedings continue.
