A fatal head-on crash on Route 201 in Gardiner, Maine, on Thursday, November 7, 2025, killed 64-year-old Scott Sawtelle of Yarmouth and left 41-year-old James Lane of New Vineyard with life-threatening injuries after Lane’s pickup crossed the centerline. The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. near Marston and Old Brunswick roads, prompting a nearly three-hour road closure. In a separate incident Friday morning, a 17-year-old sustained minor injuries and an 18-year-old was shaken but uninjured in a collision near Danforth’s Plaza in Hermon during the morning commute. Both crashes are under investigation.
