A Dublin court ordered six squatters to leave a 94-year-old man’s home by specific dates, upholding private property rights.
A Dublin High Court has ruled that six unlawful occupants must vacate a 94-year-old man’s private home by specific dates, with one occupant, Trinity College student Jack Brown, granted until December 12 due to exams and housing difficulties, while another, Glen Reid, agreed to leave by November 28.
The court, presided over by Mr Justice Brian Cregan, emphasized the importance of private property rights, noting the home had been unoccupied since 2022 when owner Thomas Gunning entered a care facility.
The case drew attention for involving a private residence, not public or corporate property, and warned of forced eviction if deadlines are missed.
