AAP urges India's election body to delay Goa's voter roll revision to avoid election chaos.
Aam Aadmi Party leaders, led by Atishi, met the Election Commission of India on November 8, 2025, to oppose the simultaneous conduct of Goa’s Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls and Zila Panchayat elections, warning it would overwhelm election machinery and compromise oversight.
With the draft roll due December 9 and elections on December 13, the AAP raised concerns that political workers would be fully engaged in campaigning, leaving no capacity to monitor the SIR.
Atishi highlighted a critical gap: no clear process exists for individuals wrongly excluded from the draft roll, who would have to re-register as new voters despite prior voting history.
The party urged the ECI to stagger the processes, ensure affected voters are notified and reinstated, and provide a rationale for the current timeline, expressing disappointment over the lack of satisfactory explanation during the meeting.
