Two men arrested in Bournemouth are linked to a cross-border smuggling ring targeting illegal UK immigration, with a third suspect taken in Belgium.
Two men, a 55-year-old from Bournemouth and a 33-year-old from Southampton, were arrested in Bournemouth on November 5 as part of a joint operation between the South West Organised Crime Unit and Belgian authorities targeting people smuggling from Belgium to the UK.
Both were held on suspicion of conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration, with the Southampton man also facing drug charges after cocaine and amphetamine were found at his home.
A third suspect was arrested in Belgium, and five individuals attempting to travel illegally to the UK by lorry were stopped.
Authorities say the operation disrupted a network exploiting vulnerable people, often linked to broader criminal activity like drug trafficking, and continue to seek public information to identify victims and dismantle such rings.
