A Polish woman, Julia Wandelt, was convicted of harassment for targeting Madeleine McCann's parents with obsessive messages and visits, despite being acquitted of stalking.
Julia Wandelt, a 24-year-old Polish woman, has been found guilty of harassment in connection with her repeated contact with Madeleine McCann’s parents, including sending over 60 messages in one day and claiming to be the missing girl.
Though acquitted of stalking, she was sentenced to six months in prison—less than the time she had already served in custody—and will be deported to Poland.
A restraining order has been imposed to protect the McCanns, who said her actions caused emotional distress and hindered the ongoing investigation.
Her co-defendant, Karen Spragg, was cleared of all charges.
