The state is distributing $7 million to nine food banks based on SNAP recipient numbers, with initial payments totaling over $700,000.
Additionally, $18 million in emergency benefits will be provided to over 63,000 low-income families through the Ohio Works First program, doubling monthly benefits with weekly payments equal to 25% of the monthly allotment for up to four weeks.
The Ohio Department of Health also received $10.3 million from the USDA to continue WIC benefits through December, ensuring nutrition support for pregnant women, infants, and children.
SNAP benefits remain suspended until the federal government reopens.
