NZ's Sculpture OnShore 2025 features 120+ artworks to fight family violence, benefiting Women’s Refuge NZ.
NZ Sculpture OnShore 2025 opened on November 7 at Operetu Fort Takapuna, Auckland, featuring over 120 large-scale sculptures and interactive installations by artists from across Aotearoa.
The inaugural Women’s Refuge NZ Sculpture of Strength Award was given to Taranaki artist Daniel McKerrow for his 3-meter corten steel and copper sculpture Whakaruruhau, honoring Māori women’s resilience.
The exhibition, running through November 23, includes student artworks from 20 Auckland schools—five first-time participants—and immersive pieces like UV-lit masks and a seating trail.
Proceeds support Women’s Refuge NZ, funding emergency shelter, counselling, and the Sievwright Fund, with all artworks for sale.
The event aims to raise awareness about family violence, which affects nearly 50,000 women and children annually in New Zealand.
