Monk Park Farm seeks a licence to host music, alcohol, and events year-round, sparking local opposition.
Monk Park Farm near Thirsk has applied for a premises licence to host music, dancing, and alcohol service from 10am to 10pm, potentially transforming the 84-acre family-friendly farm into a year-round event venue.
The proposal, submitted by York Forty Four Ltd, seeks to allow alcohol consumption across the site, including in temporary structures like a converted caravan bar and marquee, with events limited to 250 days.
Over 80 residents and 37 holiday lodge owners oppose the plan, citing concerns about noise, disruption, and the site’s shift from a petting farm to a festival-like atmosphere.
The North Yorkshire Council’s licensing sub-committee will review the application.
The farm’s general manager declined to comment.
