Mexican immigrant Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, sentenced to time served for illegal reentry, faces deportation after judge allegedly helped him evade arrest.
Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a 31-year-old Mexican immigrant who lived in Milwaukee for about 12 years, was sentenced to time served for illegally reentering the U.S. and will be deported. He was arrested in April 2025 during a court hearing on unrelated charges after federal agents sought to detain him. Prosecutors allege Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan helped him evade arrest by directing him out a restricted courtroom exit, leading to her indictment on obstruction and concealment charges; she denies wrongdoing and is set to stand trial in December. Flores-Ruiz pleaded guilty in September under a deal that recommended a time-served sentence, apologized during sentencing, and promised not to return. He has been in custody since April and is awaiting deportation from the Dodge County Jail. State prosecutors dropped two of three battery charges after he pled no contest to one.
