Gwinnett County distributed Thanksgiving food to 3,000–4,000 families amid a government shutdown and rising food insecurity.
On November 6, 2025, the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office hosted its fifth annual Thanksgiving food giveaway at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, distributing turkeys, hams, and holiday essentials to about 3,000 to 4,000 families.
The event, held amid the ongoing federal government shutdown, drew long lines starting at 4:30 a.m. as residents sought help with food insecurity.
Organized with local groups including the Keybo Building Bridges Foundation and Volunteer Gwinnett, the drive provided critical supplies to families affected by economic pressures and disrupted SNAP benefits.
Sheriff Keybo Taylor and volunteers emphasized community support as essential during the holiday season.
