Giants kicker Graham Gano, battling a neck injury and years of online abuse, may miss Sunday’s game against the Bears.
New York Giants kicker Graham Gano, 38, revealed he is dealing with a herniated disc in his neck that’s pressing on his spinal cord, causing nerve issues and potentially sidelining him for Sunday’s game against the Bears.
He missed two practices and received a spinal injection, with veteran Younghoe Koo likely to take over if he can’t play.
Gano also disclosed enduring years of online abuse, including death threats and messages telling him to “get cancer and die,” which he attributes to fan frustration, especially tied to sports betting.
NFL and team security have monitored threats for over three years.
Despite missing two field goals recently, Gano has made 9 of 10 this season and maintains an 83.8% career success rate.
He said he has developed resilience and no longer engages with the vitriol.
