Former karate champion Andrew Sherry acquitted on all charges in retrial after overturned 2024 convictions.
Andrew Sherry, 82, a former karate champion and founder of the Karate Union of Great Britain, was acquitted on all charges in a retrial at Liverpool Crown Court after being initially convicted in March 2024 on five counts related to sexual offenses against teenage boys, including one from the mid-1980s and four from around 2011 or 2012.
His original convictions were overturned by the Court of Appeal in September, leading to the retrial, where a jury found him not guilty on all counts.
Sherry, who retired in March 2022 following a police investigation, had maintained his innocence and claimed the convictions devastated his reputation.
The case concluded with his complete acquittal.
