Don Mattingly is leaving his role as bench coach for the Toronto Blue Jays after three seasons, including their 2025 World Series run, with his contract not renewed following the team’s Game 7 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The 64-year-old, a former Yankees star and two-time World Series champion, is not retiring and remains open to new opportunities in baseball, including managerial roles.
He previously managed the Dodgers and Marlins, earning NL Manager of the Year in 2020.
Mattingly, a six-time All-Star and 1985 AL MVP, is on the 2025 Hall of Fame Contemporary Baseball Era ballot.
Manager John Schneider has had his contract extended through 2026.
