A 30-year-old woman Maoist leader, Kamla Sodi, surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district on November 6, 2025, ending 14 years as a key operative in the banned CPI (Maoist).
Wanted with a ₹17 lakh bounty, she was active in the Bastar region and the tri-state MMC zone, involved in attacks, recruitment, and propaganda.
Her surrender, attributed to the state’s 2025 Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy and improved development in tribal areas, marks a significant shift in counterinsurgency efforts.
She received ₹50,000 immediately and is eligible for further support.
The move follows nearly 300 Naxalite surrenders in Chhattisgarh and 60 in Maharashtra last month, as the central government aims to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026.
