Schenectady County is hosting a drive-thru food pantry on November 6 for SNAP recipients amid the ongoing federal government shutdown, which halted November benefits nationwide.
The event, at SUNY Schenectady County Community College’s back lot starting at 5:30 p.m., is a partnership with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York to assist over 21,000 local residents affected by the disruption.
The county is also launching the Food Insecurity Initiative with $150,000 from its fund balance and securing a $100,000 matching grant from the Schenectady Foundation to support food drives.
