Safaricom, Kenya’s largest telecom company, reported a 54.5% increase in group operating profit to 65.2 billion Kenyan shillings ($505.62 million) for the first half of 2025, driven by strong performance in its domestic market and a 59% reduction in losses from its Ethiopian operations.
Group service revenue rose to 199.9 billion shillings, with M-Pesa revenue growing 14% to 88.1 billion shillings.
The company added 2.1 million new M-Pesa users, bringing active users to 37.9 million, and expanded its customer base in Kenya and Ethiopia, maintaining its full-year profit forecast despite ongoing challenges in international markets.
