The project, initially expected to finish in early 2024, faced setbacks after Healthscope, the managing company, collapsed in May 2025 due to $1.6 billion in debt. The new ward remains in final regulatory commissioning and is now expected to open in 2026. Despite the delay, the hospital continues operating normally and providing patient care.
