A judge ruled Nov. 5, 2025, that councillor Gavin Pepper won't pay legal costs in a lawsuit by debt firm Pepper Finance.
On November 5, 2025, Judge Mr Justice Cregan ruled that Gavin Pepper, a councillor, would not have to pay legal costs in a case brought by debt firm Pepper Finance and its managing director Ian Wigglesworth.
The dispute began after Pepper recorded video footage outside Wigglesworth’s home for social media, prompting an urgent injunction.
Though Pepper Finance sought a full costs order, the judge called the request “oppressive” and unnecessary, noting Pepper had conceded the claims early, offered to pay €2,500 in costs, and cooperated with court requirements.
The judge emphasized that awarding costs would risk worsening tensions and ultimately decided no costs order was appropriate.
