Irish man urges public toilets to add bins for incontinence care post-prostate cancer treatment.
Prostate cancer survivor Gerry Connolly is backing the "Dispose With Dignity" campaign, urging Irish public toilets to install sanitary bins to help men manage post-treatment incontinence.
Diagnosed in 2013, Connolly said incontinence caused severe embarrassment and anxiety, leading him to avoid public outings for months.
The campaign, led by phs Group and supported by the Irish Cancer Society and Irish Men’s Sheds Association, aims to reduce stigma and improve hygiene access, inspired by UK efforts.
Research found over half of surveyed men avoid public places due to incontinence concerns, with younger men particularly affected.
Experts stress that one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, and better facilities could improve mental health and encourage early detection.
