Sam Elliott’s family appeals DPP’s decision not to charge driver in 2024 crash that killed him.
The family of 24-year-old cyclist Sam Elliott, who died in a November 14, 2024, collision in Cabinteely, has appealed the Director of Public Prosecutions’ decision not to pursue criminal charges.
Elliott sustained fatal injuries in a crash with a car at the N11 and Johnstown Road junction and died 12 days later in Beaumont Hospital.
A postmortem confirmed the collision caused his death, with pneumonia a contributing factor.
The inquest was adjourned for three months, with a follow-up hearing set for February 11, 2026, to allow time for the appeal.
Elliott’s organs were donated to save lives.
