A Northern Irish man was jailed for two years for blackmailing two women online in 2021, using threats to share intimate images.
Cathan Quinn, 29, of Magherafelt, Northern Ireland, was sentenced to two years and two months in prison for two counts of online sexual blackmail against two women in early 2021, following a three-year delay in prosecution.
Using social media, he coerced the victims into sharing intimate images and threatened to publish them unless he received money or further compromising material, causing severe emotional trauma.
Quinn, who had a prior conviction for similar offenses in 2022, received a reduced sentence due to the delay.
He was ordered to serve half his sentence in custody, half on licence, and is subject to five-year restraining orders.
Police praised the victims’ courage and urged others facing online exploitation to seek help immediately.
