Michigan voters rejected school funding measures in Tri County and Vandercook Lake, while others approved similar plans.
Voters in Michigan’s Tri County Area Schools district rejected a proposed 10-year sinking fund that would have raised $10.8 million through a 1.5-mill property tax for school infrastructure, with 943 opposing and 526 supporting.
In contrast, several other districts including Mason, Stockbridge, Eaton Rapids, Waverly, Charlotte, Olivet, Jackson, and Hanover-Horton approved bond or millage measures.
Vandercook Lake voters also rejected a $19.9 million bond proposal, while Kent County approved a millage renewal and increase to restore funding for special education and student services, generating about $35.6 million.
