Jill Davidson won the Democratic primary for Providence’s Second Ward City Council seat with 49.1% of the vote, defeating three opponents in a high-spending race. She will face Republican Alex Brito in the December 2 general election to fill the seat left vacant by former Councilor Helen Anthony. Davidson, a development and communications director, focused on education reform, climate action, and housing affordability, including supporting rent stabilization. The race, one of the most expensive in the ward’s history, saw all candidates spend over $30,000. Davidson emphasized community engagement and will not endorse incumbent Mayor Brett Smiley.
