A car struck two hospital workers during a U-turn near Concord Hospital, injuring both critically; the driver, who tested negative for drugs and alcohol, is cooperating with police.
Two Concord Hospital staff members, a 47-year-old man and 24-year-old woman, were critically injured Wednesday morning when a black Mazda CX-5 mounted the footpath and struck them during a U-turn near the hospital entrance.
The 59-year-old female driver, who was with a passenger believed to be her care recipient, was taken to Concord Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing, which returned negative.
Both victims were rushed to Westmead and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals in critical condition.
NSW Police are investigating the crash, with the driver described as cooperating and “understandably shaken.” Authorities are seeking witnesses or video footage and continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the U-turn.
