The Brewers made Rhys Hoskins, José Quintana, and William Contreras free agents by declining their options.
The Milwaukee Brewers have declined mutual options for first baseman Rhys Hoskins and left-handed pitcher José Quintana, making them free agents. Hoskins, 32, received a $4 million buyout after hitting .237 with 12 home runs and 43 RBIs in 90 games, missing time with injury and being left off the postseason roster. Quintana, 36, gets a $2 million buyout after posting an 11-7 record and 3.96 ERA in 24 starts, allowing three runs in two playoff appearances. The Brewers also declined catcher William Contreras’ $12 million club option, giving him a $100,000 buyout; he hit .260 with 17 homers and 76 RBIs in 150 games while playing through a fractured finger and remains eligible for arbitration.
