9% of NYC residents say they’d definitely leave if socialist Zohran Mamdani wins the Nov. 4 mayoral race.
A new poll by J.L.
Partners for the Daily Mail finds that about 765,000 New York City residents—roughly 9% of the population—would definitely leave if Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani wins the mayoral election on November 4, with an additional 2.12 million, or 25%, considering relocation.
The survey, conducted amid a tight race, reflects concerns over Mamdani’s progressive platform, including tax increases and expanded social programs.
He leads opponents Curtis Sliwa and Andrew Cuomo, drawing high-profile support from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, and Governor Kathy Hochul, while former President Barack Obama offered private praise without formal endorsement.
Early voting has already seen high turnout, and the final debate occurred on October 22.
