A New York man died in a high-speed truck crash on Colorado’s Highway 160, where his vehicle veered off, rolled, and ejected him.
A 23-year-old New York man died Monday morning when his 2020 Freightliner truck, carrying canned drinks, crashed on Highway 160 near Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado.
The southbound truck struck a barrier wall, bounced off, and rolled down a steep embankment, destroying both the cab and trailer.
The driver was ejected and found dead.
Investigators say the truck was traveling at excessive speed with smoking brakes and failed to use a nearby runaway truck ramp.
The trailer broke open, spilling cargo cleared by a state plow.
The road has since reopened, and the Colorado State Patrol is investigating.
