The Michelin Guide has released its first regional edition for the American South, honoring 228 restaurants across six states. New Orleans earned three Michelin Stars, including two for Emeril’s Restaurant, the first two-star rating in the South, and one each for Saint-Germain and Zasu. Eleven New Orleans restaurants received Bib Gourmand awards for quality and value, while 18 were named recommended. Other cities also saw recognition: Charlotte’s Counter earned its first star, and Charleston’s Malagón, Vern’s, and Wild Common received stars. Nashville, Baton Rouge, and Greenville also received accolades, with five Green Stars awarded for sustainability. The guide’s criteria include ingredient quality, flavor, technique, and consistency.
